Having your pizza delivered by an autonomous car is now possible.
Domino's Pizza and the manufacturer of autonomous vehicles Nuro have teamed up to offer the inhabitants of Houston (United States) this new method of delivery, reports

The program, launched on Monday, is only accessible on certain dates and times and in one Domino's restaurant.
Deliveries are handled by Nuro's R2 autonomous robot, the first driverless vehicle to receive official certification from the Ministry of Transport.
CVS Pharmacy stores and several Houston supermarkets were already offering R2 deliveries.

Understand the behavior of delivered customers
The partnership between Nuro and Domino's Pizza began in 2019. To take advantage of this service, eligible customers must place an order by choosing home delivery by the robot and pay in advance.
They then receive a secret code as well as information on the arrival time of the car bringing their pizza.
The route of the vehicle can be monitored in real time from a distance.
When the time comes, the customer must enter the code communicated to him on the touchscreen of the vehicle to open the trunk of the vehicle and retrieve his order.
“This project will allow us to better understand how customers behave during deliveries, how they interact with the robot and the effects on restaurant operations,” commented Dennis Maloney, innovation director at Domino's Pizza.
