, of the Greens, the junior partner of the coalition led by the country's conservatives, has announced on Tuesday that he will
resign because he is overworked
due to the Covid-19 pandemic and because of his health is suffering the consequences.
"Today I announce my departure from the federal government. In times of pandemic, you need a Minister of Health who is 100% fit. Currently I am not," Anschober, 60, said on Twitter.
"I will hand over the position to my successor in the next few days and I will recover in the next few weeks. Until then, I will also take a break from Twitter. All the best!", The minister said goodbye.
"I don't want to break down," he explained in a brief statement to the media, adding that he has recently been suffering
from blood pressure problems and exhaustion.
