More than three million people in North Rhine-Westphalia have received an initial vaccination against Corona since the end of December 2020.

This comes from the vaccination statistics published this Tuesday by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Up to and including Monday, 3,001,300 first vaccinations were given.

That corresponds to 16.7 percent of the population.

The quota in the most populous federal state with around 18 million inhabitants is still slightly above the national average of 16.3 for first-time vaccinations.

The second syringe for full vaccination protection was received by 1,061,763 people in North Rhine-Westphalia up to and including Monday.

That corresponds to 5.9 percent of the population.

Nationwide, the average is 6.2 percent.

The total number of first and second vaccinations is 4,063,063.

General practitioners accelerate vaccination speed in NRW

According to the RKI statistics, a total of 87,482 first and second vaccinations were reported in North Rhine-Westphalia for Monday alone.

In the meantime, many general practitioners also vaccinate against Covid-19 in addition to doctors in vaccination centers, hospitals and mobile teams.

However, the weekly Corona value has continued to rise.

As the Robert Koch Institute announced, it was 135.5 new infections in the past seven days per 100,000 inhabitants on Tuesday.

Nationwide, the key figure rose to 140.9.

Höxter with the lowest incidence

According to the state health center in North Rhine-Westphalia, on Tuesday only seven districts and independent cities were below the 100 mark.

The district of Höxter had the lowest value with 67.7.

Three municipalities were above 200: Remscheid (247.0), Hagen (205.1) and Märkischer Kreis (201.6).

A further 68 deaths related to corona infection became known to the authorities.

The total number of people who died in NRW in connection with Corona rose to 14,656.

According to the state government, 3,624 people with Covid 19 disease were treated in hospital on Tuesday, 141 more than the day before.

The number of Covid patients treated in intensive care rose by 48 to 982. The state government stated the number of available intensive care beds with ventilation at 520 on Tuesday, two fewer than on Monday.
