Melvin Sonne wanted to be free from his drug addiction.

He therefore volunteered for treatment at Korpberget's treatment home.

"Falling side position could have saved"

19-year-old Melvin died on February 25, 2021 after being left asleep at Korpberget's treatment home without sufficient supervision.

- A thing as simple as putting someone in a prone side position could have saved his life.

Now he was allowed to lie on his back for 22 hours and that was what made him not get his vomit out, says Michael Elfström, chief physician in intensive care at Sollefteå hospital.

Drugs were found in Melvin's socks

The staff at the intensive care unit found bags of suspicious drugs in Melvin's socks when he was admitted to Sollefteå hospital, according to Michael Elfström.

- In general, we regularly receive patients who have obtained drugs at their treatment homes.

That's obviously a problem.

Either you have to be careful and make sure that they do not get hold of drugs or maybe you should not have a treatment home, says Michael Elfström.
