Mainz (dpa / lrs) - According to the responsible state office, the almost 1100 corona rapid test centers in Rhineland-Palatinate have no problems with the pre-financing of their tests - with very few exceptions.

He was only aware of the nationwide Hessian company CoviMedical with a corresponding notification, said the President of the State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Supply in Mainz, Detlef Placzek, of the German Press Agency.

Every citizen residing in Germany is entitled to a free rapid test in a center once a week.

The operators receive a small sum of money from the federal government for each test through the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians.

CoviMedical spokesman Oliver Gerhardt said his company had temporarily suspended new bookings for free rapid tests because it had advanced several million euros for its 62 test centers in Germany without getting all the money back.

CoviMedical only operates three rapid test centers in Rhineland-Palatinate: two in Mainz and one in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.

Placzek said the state of Rhineland-Palatinate had offered CoviMedical test kits - but the company based in Dillenburg, Hesse, rejected them because they did not fit into its own process.

Gerhardt confirmed this: For example, the hygiene concept and employee training from CoviMedical are not tailored to this.

The spokesman was cautiously optimistic: His young company from the event industry could "ideally" get a loan this week, and it expects a payment from the Hesse Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in the coming week.

According to Placzek, the cash flows of these associations had already been switched from a three-month to a one-month rhythm.
