About 200 Dutch tourists will stay a week in a hotel on the island of Rhodes (Greece).
The stay will be "all-inclusive", but tourists will not be allowed to leave the establishment, the Greek Ministry of Tourism said on Monday.
The arrival of these nationals from the Netherlands is therefore not a derogation from the containment measures in force in Greece.
"They will only be allowed to stay at the hotel and swim in the pool" of the establishment, said a ministry official.
Relaxed restrictions for the tourist season
These 200 tourists will travel as part of a pilot program of the Dutch operator Sunweb, in cooperation with the Greek and Dutch governments.
They arrived on Monday evening aboard a Transavia charter and will stay until April 19 in the Mitsis Grand Beach Hotel, according to the Greek news agency ANA.
In Greece, travelers today must submit a negative test for Covid-19 within 72 hours.
"Only Israeli tourists, who are vaccinated, are not subject to these obligations," said the ministry.
Confined since November 7, Greece is starting to ease its restrictions.
The tourist season is expected to open in mid-May, removing the mandatory seven-day quarantine for all foreign travelers.
Since the start of the epidemic, Greece has recorded more than 293,000 cases of coronavirus and more than 8,800 deaths, the vast majority of which in recent months.
