NRW opposition leader Thomas Kutschaty (SPD) has spoken out against canceling the vaccination sequence before the summer, as brought into play by Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU).

“I don't think it would be of much use if there was an uncontrolled run on the vaccine at the beginning of summer.

That could lead to a lot of confusion and overload in the systems, ”Kutschaty told the German press agency on Sunday.

In view of increasing vaccine deliveries, Laschet had spoken out in favor of an end to the corona vaccination sequence.

“When the large amounts of vaccine come by the end of spring, vaccination priorities should fall and vaccinations should be opened up to all people.

That would be an important building block for the bridge to a summer with much more freedom, ”said Laschet of“ Bild am Sonntag ”.

Laschet criticized the advance of the federal states of Bavaria and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to procure the Russian corona vaccine Sputnik V.

"I think it's right if the Federal Republic of Germany orders vaccines for everyone according to clear criteria and not everyone just for themselves," he said.

Kutschaty, on the other hand, demanded that North Rhine-Westphalia should also be active in Sputnik V: "As soon as the approval has been granted by the European Medicines Agency, we too have to get out of the starting blocks and not watch others as they pass us."

The SPD parliamentary group chairman also spoke out in favor of the planned “federal emergency brake”: “Laschet and Söder have forced the federal government with their candidate kindergarten to implement a federal law.

That is regrettable, but unfortunately it cannot be done differently in the current situation ”, Kutschaty told the“ Rheinische Post ”.

The NRW state government should support the draft law and implement the regulations in it immediately.

"It is not enough to wait until it is passed and approved by the Federal Council."
