United States: Minneapolis flares up again after police kill black youth

The American city of Minneapolis was once again shaken by violence on the night of Sunday, April 11, after the death of a young black man of 20 years under fire by a police officer.

The incident occurred while the trial of Derek Chauvin, a police officer accused of the murder of George Floyd, is underway.

Brooklin Center, a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, was placed under curfew overnight after the latest clashes.

The National Guard was deployed during the night, after several hours of clashes between the police and the demonstrators who came to shout "

The police used tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets, according to the local newspaper

According to the story made by his mother on Sunday, filmed and broadcast on social networks, the young man called her to warn her that he had been arrested by the police.

She then heard an officer tell her to hang up and get out of the car.

She also claims to have heard someone shout at her: " 

don't run away

 ", then it hung up.

A minute later, the mother called back and ran into Daunte's girlfriend who told her that her son had been shot.

According to a statement from the Brooklyn Center Police, which claims to be investigating, police arrested a driver of a car for traffic violation, but then found he was under arrest. arrest warrant and attempted to arrest him.

But he got back into his car and a police officer used his weapon.

The press release finally specifies that the police officers wore intervention cameras on their chest.
