Erfurt (dpa / th) - A traffic count begins on federal and state roads in Thuringia this Tuesday.

The state office for construction and transport announced on Monday in Erfurt that the registration, which actually takes place every five years, has been postponed from 2020 to this year due to the corona pandemic.

The count runs until October 14th.

Over the entire period, it is planned on six to eight selected days - each over three hours in the afternoon.

On busy routes, counting is also carried out for two hours in the morning on two days.

Existing permanent counting stations are used on the autobahns, and there are 106 permanent counting stations on the Thuringian road network in addition to manual counting stations.

The results would be used for traffic planning and forecasting.

Contracts worth two million euros have been awarded for the project.
