The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, directed that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces be named to a main street in Indonesia, in a special appreciation from His Excellency to His Highness and within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries.

Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Pratiknu and Minister of Housing and Public Works of Indonesia, Basuki Hadmljeno, participated today in the launching ceremony of the name "Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Street", in the presence of the country's ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia and the ASEAN Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, and a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In his speech on the occasion, the Indonesian Minister of Presidential Affairs said: “In response to the directives of President Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, we announce the change of the name of“ Jakarta-Chicambek Street ”to become“ Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Street, ”starting today.

He explained that the Indonesian government decided to name His Highness on this strategic and vital path, in appreciation of the distinguished relations between the two countries.

He added, "Bilateral relations have witnessed remarkable developments in the political, economic, cultural and social fields since they began in 1976," noting that the UAE has become one of the largest investor countries in Indonesia, after its recent announcement of investing $ 10 billion in the Indonesian sovereign wealth fund.

For his part, Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri emphasized that the name of His Highness on this strategic street reflects the distinguished relations between the UAE and Indonesia, and the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the leadership of the two countries, and is a tribute to the great and important role that His Highness played in strengthening bilateral relations, which turned into a strategic partnership in particular. After his visit to Indonesia in July 2019, which is considered an important turning point in the course of cooperation between the two countries.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Street is one of the strategic and important streets in Indonesia, with a length of 37 km. It was inaugurated on December 12, 2019 by His Excellency the Indonesian President, and is the longest suspended overpass highway in Indonesia, and the longest double suspension highway in Southeast Asia. It connects the capital, Jakarta, with the most vital tourist and economic cities and regions in Bandung, Bakasi and Karawang in West Java, in addition to being part of the highway that exploits the movement of people and goods between the Indonesian capital and the provinces of Central and West Java.

It is worth noting that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, directed in October 2020 to build a mosque in the Al Sefarat neighborhood in Abu Dhabi bearing the name of Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, and to name the Indonesian President on the former exhibition street, one of the most important streets of the capital Abu Dhabi.
