The Houthi group in Yemen announced this morning, Monday, the launch of drones and two ballistic missiles towards military targets in southern Saudi Arabia, as well as targeting oil refineries for Aramco in the east and west of the Kingdom.

In a statement published by the group’s Saba Agency today, the Houthi military spokesman said that the so-called Operation Thirty of Sha'ban was carried out with 17 drones and ballistic missiles, and that it lasted from yesterday evening until dawn today.

The statement indicated that the operation included targeting Aramco's refineries in the regions of Jeddah (west) and Jubail (east) with ten drones, in addition to military sites in the regions of Khamis Mushait and Jizan (south) with five drones and two ballistic missiles.

This comes a day after the Houthi group announced that it had targeted sites in Jizan and Khamis Mushait, while Saudi media reported that the coalition intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and 4 booby-trapped drones.

The Saudi-led coalition said yesterday that the Houthis' attempts, which it described as hostile, are systematic and deliberate to target civilians, adding that it "is taking the necessary operational measures to protect civilians, in accordance with international humanitarian law."

The Houthis have recently intensified the launch of drones and ballistic missiles on Saudi areas, amid repeated announcements by the coalition of their destruction, in parallel with diplomatic efforts by the United Nations and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement in Yemen.
