Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The state student council in Brandenburg has criticized the communication of the education ministry in the opening strategy for schools, among other things with self-tests.

"At the moment, a lot of things happen ad hoc and often unplanned, it seems," said chairwoman Katharina Swinka of the German press agency on Monday.

There is a lack of planning security for schools and learners.

Communication with the schools took place far too late, she estimated.

Since this Monday, primary school pupils have been learning alternating lessons again.

This also applies to final classes and special schools with a focus on intellectual development.

Secondary schools in Brandenburg, on the other hand, are closed again for the time being.

Pupils from secondary schools, comprehensive schools and grammar schools have to study at home to protect against the coronavirus.

From April 19, corona tests are compulsory twice a week - they are a prerequisite for entering schools.

Education Minister Britta Ernst (SPD) considers the schools to be safe.

The state student council was involved in the corona test strategy for schools, as Swinka reported.

Testing at home is more flexible, as Brandenburg is a large state and not all students come to their school quickly, she explained.

Swinka, who is a 12th grade student at a comprehensive school in Potsdam, currently sees no alternative to distance learning for secondary schools.

There are more corona infections in the upper classes than in primary schools.

The experience of the last few months has also shown that the implementation of face-to-face teaching in secondary schools, for example with class splits, was “incredibly difficult”.

The chairman of the State Parents' Council also called for the final classes of the coming year to be looked at now and not in two or more months.

"Otherwise we'll face the same problem as this year, it won't help any of us."
