Munich (dpa / lby) - Despite the report of lower infection numbers on Sunday, the city of Munich is now pulling the Corona emergency brake.

From Wednesday, tightened lockdown rules would apply again, the city announced on Monday.

The city referred to figures from the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) from Erlangen and spoke of a data error at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, which stated the values for Sunday were too low.

According to the LGL, the limit of more than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was exceeded within one week on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The RKI, on the other hand, reported an incidence value of 94.4 for Munich on Sunday.

The condition that the values must be over 100 on 3 consecutive days would therefore not yet be met on Monday.

The city spoke of an obvious data error and referred to the LGL, which had given the value on Sunday as 116.4.

On Monday, both institutes reported 126.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

From Wednesday museums and other cultural and leisure facilities in Munich will be closed again, as will cosmetic studios and massage practices.

For many shops, customers have to make appointments online in advance and show negative corona tests.

Exceptions apply to drug stores or grocery stores, for example.

School operations continue as planned.

A re-evaluation will take place on Friday for the following week.
