Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Almost four million vaccine doses have been injected into people's arms in North Rhine-Westphalia since the start of the corona vaccination campaign at the end of December.

This emerges from the vaccination statistics published on Monday by the Robert Koch Institute.

Accordingly, including Sunday, 2,892,119 people in North Rhine-Westphalia received an initial vaccination against Corona.

Of these, 1 039 411 people have now received a second injection for full vaccination protection, well over a million.

Taken together, this is so far 3,931,530 corona vaccinations in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Up to and including Sunday, 16.1 percent of the residents of North Rhine-Westphalia received an initial vaccination.

The most populous federal state is therefore slightly above the federal average of 15.9 when it comes to first vaccinations.

For the second vaccination, the rate in NRW is 5.8.

It is slightly below the national average of 6.1.

For Sunday alone, a total of 71,667 first and second vaccinations were reported in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Sunday numbers are lower than the numbers on working days, on which the family doctors now also vaccinate in addition to the doctors in vaccination centers, hospitals and mobile teams.
