Officials from the Thai Ministry of the Interior said that in the 357 road traffic accidents that occurred across the country on the 11th, 30 people were killed and 374 injured.

Among them, the main cause of accidents was speeding, which accounted for 34.45%; the second was drunk driving, which accounted for 24.37%.

Motorcycles have the most accidents, accounting for about 87% of the total number of accidents.

In order to maintain road traffic safety during the Songkran Festival, Thailand’s relevant departments have set up nearly 2,000 road inspection points across the country, and arranged tens of thousands of staff to inspect vehicles and punish traffic violations.

Thai officials said that there has been heavy rain in parts of Thailand recently, roads are slippery, and visibility is low. People should obey traffic rules and drive carefully.

Thailand is one of the top countries in the global car accident mortality rate, especially the high incidence of road traffic accidents during the New Year and New Year's Eve and the Songkran holiday each year. Therefore, these two holidays are also called "Dangerous Seven Days."
