Rostock (dpa / mv) - The handball players of HC Empor Rostock started with a win in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Mecklenburgers won their home game against TuS Spenge on Sunday with 31:25 (12:16).

The best up throwers were Robin Breitenfeld with eight goals and Maximilian Schütze with seven goals.

For a long time it looked like a false start for the team of coach Till Wiechers.

Three minutes before half-time, the Rostockers were 9:16 behind.

In the 43rd minute, Jonas Ottsen brought the hosts back into the lead for the first time after the 1-0.

At 29:23 (56th), the lead was six goals for the first time.

On Saturday (7.30 p.m.), Empor will continue with the away game at MTV Braunschweig.
