The interrogation was held during the fourth day of the trial in the case where four people are charged with aggravated bribery in connection with Region Skåne's procurement of the IT system Vårdexpressen.

The official, who was fired after SVT's revelation, stated in the interrogation that he never intended to harm Region Skåne without, on the contrary, being driven to find the best system for Skåne's health centers.

Almost religious

The official also pointed out the regional management as a driving force when it came to the Health Express.

- As for the procurement itself, I actually experienced it as a commissioned work.

And this was not just from the primary care management.

I also received signals from the top management that this was what we were going to procure, the official said in the interrogation.

He also said that Vårdinnovations' former CEO Damon Tojjar was invited to present the system at several meetings and that every time Vårdexpressen was shown, it was "applauded":

- I perceived it as a revival movement where Damon would be some form of savior for primary care in the future.

Nearly 2,000 messages

SVT has previously revealed close contacts between the company and the former regional officials in the form of chats and emails.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Tojjar and the official who was questioned on Wednesday, wrote almost 2,000 encrypted messages to each other.

A correspondence that started several months before the procurement was announced.

- There was nothing in the chats that could affect the procurement, the official said and said that the procurement was a commissioned work.

"Professional friendship"

During the interrogation, the official admitted that he had received a proposal for an employment contract from Vårdinnovation's CEO and that he had also been offered share options.

- It has been a professional friendship that has grown.

He said that it is common for regional employees to get jobs and work in the private healthcare sector.

Temporary disruption

In the middle of the interrogation, Damon Tojjar's lawyer Lars Kruse suddenly got up and went forward and whispered something to the official's lawyer.

The prosecutor then paused the interrogation and wondered what was going on, before resuming it again.

SVT has asked Lars Kruse if he at the specific time tried to influence the interrogation.

Kruse has announced that, based on his duty of confidentiality, he cannot answer such questions.

SVT has contacted Region Skåne for a comment.

Press manager Anna Fjellner announces that the region will not comment during the ongoing legal process.

The interrogation of the accused official continues on Monday.
