Germersheim (dpa / lrs) - During a deployment in Germersheim, the police said they were repelling a man's attack on an officer with a so-called taser.

The Landau police department announced on Saturday.

The police reported a "bullying person" on Friday who then behaved aggressively during the operation, it said.

When the man attacked a police officer, the electric shock gun was used.

A breath alcohol level of 3.31 per mille was measured in the 40-year-old.

The authorities in the Palatinate announced that he was taken into custody overnight.
