Berlin (dpa / bb) - A driver under the influence of drugs has delivered a chase with the Brandenburg and Berlin police.

The car should be checked on Sunday morning around 1.30 a.m. in Hönow (Märkisch Oderland) near the Berlin city limits, as the officials announced.

However, the 41-year-old driver had accelerated and fled to Berlin via Landsberger Chaussee.

He should have ignored at least one red light.

The Brandenburg police asked their Berlin colleagues for support.

The escape went to Marzahn, where a tram got in the way of the car at the intersection of Raoul-Wallenberg-Strasse / Lea-Grundig-Strasse.

The man tried to turn, but the car drove into the track bed and came to a stop.

The driver fled unsuccessfully on foot and got caught in a bush.

He was arrested.

A drug test was reportedly positive.

The officers found a loaded alarm gun, various ammunition, a dagger and a hunting knife in the car.

The 41-year-old also did not have a driver's license.

The car was no longer ready to drive.
