Erfurt (dpa / th) - According to the state government, the funds for the solar funding program Solar Invest have already been fully planned as a result of the high demand.

"With the more than 1,600 funding applications submitted in 2021, the currently available budget has been exhausted," said a spokesman for the Ministry of the Environment on request.

This is also due to the fact that applications made in the previous year were processed in the first months of 2021.

The almost 13 million euros earmarked in the state budget for the Solar Invest program are thus fully planned.

With Solar Invest, the Free State supports households, private and municipal companies as well as associations and foundations that want to use and store solar energy.

The purchase of photovoltaic systems can be funded, as well as the purchase of battery storage and certain consulting services.

Environment State Secretary Olaf Möller denied that the high demand for the program could be an indication that photovoltaic systems could pay off for builders even without funding.

"Our funding is good - and its proportionality is checked regularly," said Möller.

In his estimation, without the state subsidy, systems with battery storage systems in particular would often not be built in the same way as with the subsidy.

This technology makes up 90 percent of the subsidized systems.
