A total of 29 workers were in the coal mine, eight of which have so far been rescued.

It has been possible to identify the whereabouts of the other miners, but it is difficult to reach them.

Pump equipment has also been installed to get water out of the mine.

Mining accidents are common in China, partly due to lack of safety and low compliance with work environment regulations.

Many dead in mines

In January, 22 miners in Shandong Province went underground after an explosion.

After two weeks, eleven of them could be rescued, while the rest perished in the mine shaft.

In December last year, 23 miners died after being trapped in a mine in Chongqing, and a few months earlier, 16 died of carbon monoxide poisoning in another mine in the same city.
