Gronau (dpa / lnw) - Of all things, a man (25) wanted to break into a police station in Gronau, Münsterland.
The officers on duty stopped the attempt and arrested the man who had attracted attention several times in the days before.
He was admitted to the psychiatric department of a hospital.
As the police announced on Sunday, the 25-year-old climbed over a fence into the courtyard on Saturday night and tampered with at the back entrance.
According to the police, the man had a knife with him and was probably drugged.
On Tuesday he is said to have stolen from two gas stations in Gronau - armed with a knife.
He slightly injured officers trying to arrest him.
On Wednesday he is said to have gone on a thief tour again in one of the two gas stations.
On Friday he is said to have stolen a notebook from a restaurant.

The public prosecutor's office applied to the local court to take the man into custody after he was released from the hospital.
