Erfurt (dpa / th) - The State Parents' Representation of Thuringia (LEV) reacted with incomprehension to the mask requirement for all classes in Thuringia, which will apply from Monday.

“In view of the precarious pandemic situation, we are dependent on the cooperation of everyone involved in the school.

Health protection measures must be well thought out and, above all, communicated in an understandable manner.

At least the latter did not succeed with the mandatory mask requirement, ”said the spokeswoman for the state parents' representative, Claudia Koch, on Saturday.

The education and health ministries agreed on Friday to introduce compulsory masks in class for all grade levels in Thuringia.

The regulation should apply from Monday and initially until April 24th.

From Monday, schoolchildren and school staff will also be able to use corona rapid tests twice a week, free of charge and voluntarily.

Shortly before the introduction of nationwide rapid tests in schools for the official start of school after the Easter holidays, the mask measure was counterproductive, said Koch.

According to the LEV, other options should first be used to make schools more pandemic-proof - such as the installation of ventilation systems and air purifiers or protective walls made of Plexiglas.
