Hanover (AP) - Defending champion THW Kiel has at least temporarily regained the top of the table in the handball Bundesliga.

The zebras won their away game at TSV Hannover-Burgdorf on Saturday by 35:29 (16:16) and overtook SG Flensburg-Handewitt, which can counter on Sunday.

Niclas Ekberg scored eight goals for THW, Johan Hansen was successful ten times for TSV.

The hosting Lower Saxony went into the game after a corona quarantine.

Among other things, Nejc Cehte and Ivan Martinovic were missing the two regular forces in the right back space.

Goalkeeper Urban Lesjak and runner Evgeni Pevnov were also not available.

Hanover's coach Carlos Ortega relied on the seventh field player in the first ten minutes.

A tactical move that the Kielers and their coach Filip Jicha didn't like.

At 3: 6 (11th) the Czech took a time-out and ruled his players: "We only make technical mistakes, my face."

The record champions only gradually found their way into the game.

Patrick Wiencek gave Kielers the first lead with his hit in the empty TSV goal at 11:10 (22nd minute).

At 26:22 (42nd) the way was clear to the 21st THW victory in the 24th duel with the Hanoverians.
