Berlin (dpa) - Both CDU boss Armin Laschet and CSU chairman Markus Söder are ready to run as candidate for chancellor of the Union, according to Söder.
Laschet and he had an open and friendly exchange on Saturday, said Söder, according to participants on Sunday at the meeting of the head of the Union faction in Berlin.
"We both said we are ready," he reported.

Söder therefore emphasized that it was about the overall success of the Union and the best for the country.
And Söder added that if the CDU were ready to support him, he would face this task.
