Measures criticized by the opposition but rather well received by Argentines.

Argentina is tightening the screw for at least three weeks.

As

Covid-19 contaminations

have increased in recent days, the government has decided to take new measures.

Until April 30, private meetings in enclosed spaces are prohibited.

Bars, restaurants and theaters will close at 11 p.m., a curfew will be applied from midnight to 6 a.m., and public transport will be reserved for so-called essential workers.

Saturday April 10, for this first weekend of restrictions, the pedestrian streets of central Buenos Aires are less crowded than usual.

Leandro, an economics student, approves the government's decisions, not without concern: “

I believe that the measures decided by the government were necessary, but I also believe that he has not given enough thought to the economic consequences on certain sectors, such as gastronomy or certain tourist activities.

 "

Will these restrictions be sufficient to curb this increase in contamination?

Laura, a 35-year-old consultant, finds the measurements balanced.

“

Given the current situation, this is the right thing to do, because we could not control meetings in private places or night outings.

But at the same time, the restaurants do not close until 11 pm, which leaves time to go to dinner,

 ”she notes.

But Pablo, a 50-year-old employee, thinks that the authorities should have gone further: "

The restrictions are not only justified, but perhaps insufficient if we take into account the explosion of contagions and what is happening. in Chile, Brazil and Uruguay, neighboring countries experiencing

extremely serious situations

.

This shows that strong measures are needed.

 "

While some experts demanded a return to a form of confinement, Peronist President Alberto Fernández wanted to limit the damage to the economy and the morale of Argentines.

At the risk of having to take much harsher measures after April 30.

Argentina ha entrado en la segunda ola y debemos tomar medidas para bajar la velocidad de contagio.

Por eso les pido reforzar los cuidados mientras continúa la vacunación.

The salud no puede will be a time of political confrontation.

Cuidarnos debe ser un Compromise colectivo.
