Osnabrück (dpa) - Shortly before the Lower Saxony duel against Eintracht Braunschweig, VfL Osnabrück, another second division soccer club, reported a corona case in its team.

Despite the positive test with one player, the game will take place on Sunday at 1.30 p.m., VfL announced in the morning.

«After consultation with the responsible health department, the player who does not show any symptoms is in quarantine at home.

We were able to document to the responsible authorities that we strictly adhered to all the requirements of the medical-hygienic concept for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, ”said Osnabrück sports director Benjamin Schmedes.

"The decisive factor in the decision of the health department not to isolate further parts of the licensed area were, among other things, the rapid antigen tests carried out, which have been prescribed in the adapted hygiene concept since April 1st."

In the 2nd Bundesliga, the teams from Holstein Kiel, SV Sandhausen and Karlsruher SC are currently in quarantine.

That is why three games have already been canceled on this 28th matchday.

Even with the Osnabrück opponent Eintracht Braunschweig, the coach Daniel Meyer and the two players Fabio Kaufmann and Jannis Nikolaou had to go into domestic isolation.
