Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavarian retailers fear that the new test regulations will deter even more people from shopping.

"Unfortunately, it is so that shopping is made even more difficult," said trade association managing director Bernd Ohlmann on Saturday in Munich.

The effort is so great that probably even more customers would rather order online than go to a store.

As of Monday, shops in cities and counties with a 7-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants between 100 and 200 will only be allowed to open to customers with an appointment and a negative test result.

In the case of a PCR test, the state government decides that it may be a maximum of 48 hours old, and in the case of a rapid test, a maximum of 24 hours.

Exceptions to this are grocery stores, drug stores, opticians and other “shops essential for daily supplies”.

There are several options for the rapid tests, as the Ministry of Economic Affairs made clear on Friday evening.

After that, retailers can offer rapid tests in front of their store or in suitable rooms.

Or customers can be tested beforehand at a test center and bring proof of this with them.

Another possibility are self-tests in front of or in the shop “under the supervision of the operator”, said the ministry.

The retailers would have to decide for themselves whether these are made available or whether customers bring them with them.

Work is also being done to combine self-tests with digital evidence so that other stores can then be entered.

Until then, customers have to do a new self-test each time before they enter another store - even if it is on the same day.

"That is an enormous bureaucratic effort," said Ohlmann.

Many retailers are angry and insecure as a result.

He assumes that many of them will not offer “Click & Meet” - that is, shopping by appointment - because it is not worthwhile for them.

The test regulations will also apply from Monday to hardware stores, gardeners, flower shops, shoe stores and bookstores, which were previously allowed to open regardless of incidence values.

In most cities and districts in Bavaria, this means that for the most part only appointment shopping will be possible: On Saturday, the nationwide 7-day incidence was 138.6.
