Neubrandenburg / Greifswald (dpa / mv) - People aged 60 and over can take advantage of additional vaccination offers in two districts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

According to the districts of Mecklenburg Lake District and Western Pomerania-Greifswald, there should be appropriate vaccination options in Neubrandenburg, Demmin and Mirow as well as in Greifswald and Pasewalk.

The vaccine from Astrazeneca will be used.

While Vorpommern-Greifswald wants to vaccinate without registering, the Lake District administration pointed out that you can also reserve an appointment via the hotline.

Vorpommern-Greifswald is hoping for more than 1000 people willing to vaccinate on Saturday.

On Holy Saturday, more than 960 people in the Lake District were given the Astrazeneca vaccine.

A vaccination campaign had already started on Friday without an appointment being made in Grevesmühlen (Northwest Mecklenburg), where, according to the district, up to 300 people can be vaccinated daily.

During a similar event on Easter Monday in Wismar, long queues had formed despite the snowstorm.

According to the district, more than 900 people had been vaccinated.

Another such action is planned for April 17th in both vaccination centers in Wismar and Grevesmühlen, where together another 1000 vaccinations are estimated.

The Standing Vaccination Commission had recently only recommended the Astrazeneca vaccine for people aged 60 and over.

The reason for the restriction was, among other things, rare cases of cerebral vein thrombosis, especially in younger women after vaccination with the serum.

The Hanseatic city of Rostock had already offered additional vaccination appointments for Thursday and Friday.

Accordingly, as of Thursday alone, more than 1000 vaccination appointments with Astrazeneca had been arranged for people over 60 for Friday.

The district of Vorpommern-Rügen gave stocks of the vaccine for distribution to general practitioners.

The uncertainty is great.

We are grateful that the general practitioners could respond to this with their trusting relationship with the patients.

The Ludwigslust-Parchim district also claims to be reducing vaccines by passing them on to general practitioners.
