"In recent months the Corps, drawing on the wealth of professional and human heritage, has offered in many ways an important contribution to the commitment of the national community in '' face an unprecedented and complex challenge, which requires unity and cohesion. The women and men of the State Police have ensured the closeness of the State to the citizens in times of difficulty and disorientation, also with information and awareness-raising initiatives for the population, as well as through concrete gestures of solidarity ", adds the Head of State.
According to Mattarella: "To safeguard everyone's health, the supervisory activity on compliance with containment measures has been oriented towards the right rigor and balance. Of particular importance are the actions to combat and prevent crime initiatives in the economic sphere, aimed at taking advantage of an increased fragility of the productive and social fabric ".
And he continues: "In the wake of a long history of fidelity to tradition and the drive for innovation, the fundamental function of technical-operational coordination of public order and safety services carried out by the Police Headquarters is also inserted, which guarantees the exercise of constitutional rights and social cohesion. The activities to combat international terrorism led to the expulsion, for security reasons, of a total of 59 subjects in 2020 and of 21 subjects in the first months of this. year".
"The coordination between the Police Forces as a factor in multiplying the operational capacity of each individual actor and the sharing of information and methodologies in joint organizations - the minister also underlined - represent a fundamental added value, which allows to correspond to the increasingly complex security needs in an adequate and effective manner in the various areas ".

These are some of the numbers - released on the occasion of the 169th anniversary of the foundation - of the operational activity of the State Police in 2020, a year tragically marked by the pandemic: from the first lockdown to today, the verification of compliance with the anti Covid measures concerned 37.6 millions of people and 9.6 million businesses and businesses.
