Athens (AP) - A Greek blogger and journalist was shot dead in front of his house in Athens on Friday afternoon.
Giorgos Karaivaz, known in Greece as a police reporter, was struck down with seven shots, the Greek media reported, citing police circles.
Two men then fled on a motorcycle, it said.
At first nothing was known about the background.
At the scene of the crime in the Athens district of Alimos, at least 17 cartridge cases were found, reported the daily newspaper "Kathimerini".
However, neighbors heard nothing, which is why the police assume that it was a pistol with a silencer.
Karaivaz is said to have been on the way home from a midday boulevard broadcast in which he reported as a police reporter.
