Berlin (dpa / bb) - Vaccinations with Astrazeneca are possible in Tempelhof until April 20.

The period has been extended again, as the Senate Department for Health announced on Friday.

According to the information, the reason is the continued demand.

First, the Astrazeneca vaccinations in Hangar 4 of the former Tempelhof Airport should end on April 11th, then on April 18th, now they are possible for two days longer.

The vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer is used in people over the age of 60.

A vaccination hotline is available on 030 9028-2200 to book appointments for the vaccination center in Tempelhof.

In the Tegel vaccination center, where Astrazeneca had also been used for 60 to 70-year-olds since the beginning of April, the vaccinations for this group of people ran out as planned last Tuesday.

Since then, the vaccine from Biontech-Pfizer has been used there.

A good week ago, following a recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko), the federal and state governments decided to generally only use the Astrazeneca vaccine for people aged 60 and over.

The background is cases of blood clots (thromboses) in cerebral veins in younger people.

As a result, the additional opportunity for 60 to 70 year olds to be vaccinated with Astrazeneca was created in Berlin.

For all other vaccines, the nationally standardized official order (prioritization) continues to apply.

According to this, people over the age of 70 and people with certain severe or chronic diseases are currently being vaccinated against corona in the vaccination centers.
