Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Hamburger SV has suffered another setback in the fight for promotion to the Bundesliga.

Coach Daniel Thioune's team lost 1: 2 (0: 0) to SV Darmstadt on Friday evening.

For the time being, Hamburg remain in second place in the 2nd Bundesliga table, because the game of the pursuer SpVgg Greuther Fürth against SV Sandhausen had to be postponed due to corona.

"The defeat was deserved," said HSV striker Simon Terodde.

Erich Berko (51st) and striker Serdar Dursun (60th) scored the goals for the strong Hessen team.

Jeremy Dudziak scored the next goal (77th).

Five days after the 3: 3 at Hannover 96, Hamburg found it difficult to get into the game and lost a lot of the ball.

«The result is very bitter.

The determination was missing when it came to scoring chances, ”said HSV coach Daniel Thioune on Sky TV.

Offensive player Sonny Kittel had the first chance in the 18th minute, but missed the goal from close range.

Manuel Wintzheimer failed two minutes later because of Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schschuhe.

HSV goalkeeper Sven Ulreich made another mistake.

While catching he let the ball bounce and was lucky that opponent Dursun could not react in time.

In stoppage time in the first half, Simon Terodde and Aaron Hunt missed two good opportunities for HSV.

The Hanseatics lacked effectiveness.

The counter-strong guests from Darmstadt, however, knew how to use their chances.

First Berko after counterattack, then Dursun completely unsettled Hamburg with his goal.

"It's something special as a Hamburg boy when you win at HSV," said Dursun with a laugh.

There were discussions about a penalty whistle, which was withdrawn by the video assistant (72nd).

Simon Terodde fell when shooting on goal.

"For me a clear penalty," scolded Terodde.

Nevertheless, tension arose in the final phase: Dudziak only scored the connection goal, a short time later he could have equalized.

The defeat will "throw back HSV for the moment," said Thioune, but promised: "But we'll come back again."
