Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Three and a half months after the start of the corona vaccinations in Hamburg, Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) is visiting the hospital for the Holy Spirit in Poppenbüttel again today.

He wanted to inquire about the condition of the resident Karin Sievers, who was vaccinated on December 27, when he was 84, was the first woman from Hamburg to be vaccinated.

In a personal conversation, the mayor also wanted to find out how she experienced the time after the vaccinations.

Sievers and the other residents received the second dose of the vaccine from Biontech three weeks after the first vaccination.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, 355,642 vaccine doses have been administered in Hamburg up to and including Wednesday.

For the first vaccinations, the rate is therefore 13.7 percent.

The Hanseatic city is thus slightly below the national average of 13.8 percent.

5.5 percent of people would have received a second dose and thus complete vaccination protection.

The national average here is 5.7 percent.
