Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - Saarland is currently not planning to buy the Russian corona vaccine Sputnik V. The state chancellery in Saarbrücken announced on Friday.

"If the federal government is considering a purchase, the state government will examine a possible order," said a spokesman.

To this end, Saarland is waiting for further planning and talks by the federal government.

Germany wants to talk to Russia about possible deliveries of Sputnik V.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) said on Thursday that the EU Commission has declared that it will not conclude any contracts for the Russian preparation as it does with other manufacturers.

Sputnik V has not yet been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
