Munich (dpa) - At the end of the Easter holidays, Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) advertised the mandatory testing in schools from Monday.

In view of the increasing number of corona infections and more contagious mutations, she is "the chance to be able to maintain alternating and face-to-face teaching," said Piazolo on Friday in Munich.

At the same time, he announced a three-stage process to compensate for learning delays caused by the pandemic.

Bridging courses, remedial classes and programs with older students as tutors should start after the Whitsun holidays at the latest.

During the summer vacation, trainee teachers and students, as well as adult education center lecturers, are supposed to close gaps in math, German and foreign languages for two weeks.

In the next school year there will be strongly individualized funding, explained Piazolo.

A total of 20 million euros are planned for the support programs.

When classes start again on Monday, all students must test themselves at school at least twice a week, regardless of the infection situation, or submit a current PCR or rapid test.

However, from an incidence of 100 or more, there is usually distance teaching.

Since Friday is the deadline, according to Pizaolo, only 25 districts and cities will meet the requirements for alternate classes for the coming week.

71 regions, in which 46 percent of all schoolchildren live, recorded over 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week and, with a few exceptions, received distance learning.
