One person died Thursday and several others were injured, four seriously, in a shooting at a furniture store in Texas, local police said.

The alleged perpetrator has been arrested and is a "store employee," Bryan Town Police tweeted.

His motivations remain unknown for the moment.

"At around 2:30 p.m. we were informed of a shooting, (...) the agents intervened and found several victims on the spot", had told the press earlier Jason James, spokesman for the Bryan police, located between Houston and Dallas.

One person died, he then said.

Five people were also injured, four of them seriously, and hospitalized.

These facts came hours after President Joe Biden unveiled in the White House targeted measures to limit the proliferation of firearms in the United States, where shootings are a recurring scourge.
