Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The state government will deal with the vaccination strategy for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in another special Corona meeting on Friday (10:00 a.m.).

Representatives of the municipalities and medical associations in the state are invited to the so-called vaccination summit.

After a good start with corona vaccinations at the beginning of the year, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has now dropped to one of the last places in a country comparison.

Problems with the availability of the vaccination hotline, which is used to make appointments, may have contributed to this.

Even with the drastic reduction in the safety reserves for the required second vaccinations, the country could not make up any ground.

While 12.5 percent of the population in the north-east has been vaccinated at least once, the proportion in the neighboring state of Schleswig-Holstein is 15.8 percent and the national average is 13.8 percent.

The widespread involvement of general practitioners and specialists, who have been vaccinating more since this week, should bring more speed to vaccination.

But there, too, the lack of vaccine is the limiting factor.
