Eppingen (dpa / lsw) - In the Heilbronn district, three boys are said to have played with fire and caused a major fire.

As the public prosecutor and the police announced on Thursday, the fire broke out in a barn in Eppingen on the afternoon of the previous day.

The fire later spread to two adjacent residential buildings.

The emergency services could have rescued two residents unharmed from these buildings.

In the course of the evening, the fire brigade was able to bring the fire under control except for a few embers.

During the investigation into the cause of the fire, it turned out that three boys between the ages of 9 and 13 were said to have set fire to the barn.

That was probably what caused the fire.

The investigation was still ongoing.

The barn in the Adelshofen district was completely burned out, it said.

The beams of one residential building and an outer wall of the other house were also damaged by the fire.

The police put the damage to the barn and the two houses at around 200,000 euros.
