The decision means that restaurants must remain closed between 20.30 and 05.00 and that further measures need to be taken for visitors to shops, malls and shopping centers.

- You should get there alone and not in company, Anders Tegnell continues.

Similar rules apply to restaurants inside malls and shopping centers, where you can sit a maximum of one person per table.

This is to emphasize that one should come alone to this type of place, in order to reduce the risk of infection spreading.

The extension was announced last week

Already last Wednesday, the government announced that the current restrictions on restaurants and bars will be extended.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) then called for an effort to contribute to a reduced spread of infection.

- To get a normal everyday life again, the spread of infection needs to be significantly reduced and the burden on healthcare reduced, Stefan Löfven said then.

Today, the Swedish Public Health Agency has made the decision to extend the restrictions until 2 May.

Assessment of Astra Zeneca's vaccine is ongoing

The state epidemiologist also raised the situation regarding the EMA's statement on Astra Zeneca's vaccine.

There is an ongoing assessment of whether blood clots can be linked to Astra Zeneca's vaccine against covid-19 and how it affects use in Sweden.

- We continue the break in the younger age groups pending more information.

We are looking at whether this will affect how we choose to use Astra's vaccine today.

We follow up reports and have a dialogue with other countries about this.
