Erfurt (dpa / th) - The representatives of Thuringian schoolchildren are again calling for binding intervention by the state in the ordering of regional school closings.

From the perspective of the student council, it was a mistake to finally transfer the decision-making authority over local school closings from the state to the municipalities, said the state student spokesman for the grammar schools, Leon Schwalbe, of the German press agency.

It is better if the Free State decides on local school closings.

For example, the fact that schools in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district were reopened for at least some grade levels in mid-March, although the district is a Corona hotspot, was not responsible.

At the same time, Schwalbe and the deputy state parent spokesman for the Thuringian high schools, Roul Rommeiß, spoke out in favor of allowing as many lessons as possible in schools in the Free State after the end of the Easter holidays.

“The be-all and end-all must be to ensure as much presence as possible,” said Rommeiß.
