Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) is against going it alone by the federal states when ordering the Russian corona vaccine Sputnik V. Ramelow, the federal government continues to be obliged to conclude a framework agreement for the purchase of the vaccine for Germany , said government spokesman Falk Neubert on Thursday in Erfurt on request.

Thuringia's head of government had repeatedly spoken out in favor of using Sputnik V after its approval in Germany.

He spoke about it several times with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Health Minister Jens Spahn (both CDU), said the government spokesman.

Ramelow therefore reacted with amazement to Bavaria's advance.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) said on Wednesday that Bavaria had secured 2.5 million doses of Sputnik V with a preliminary contract in the event that the active ingredient was approved by the EU.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is currently examining the application for approval of Sputnik V in the EU.

In April, EMA experts are expected in Russia to assess the production and storage of the vaccine.

Russia released the drug in mid-August 2020 as the world's first corona vaccine for widespread use in the population.

In the meantime, data published in the medical press have certified the agent's high effectiveness.
