Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Greens in the Hamburg Parliament have asked Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) to create nationwide uniform rules in the fight against the corona pandemic.

"If the country leaders fail to agree on effective corona measures, the federal government must act now," said parliamentary group leader Dominik Lorenzen on Thursday during the debate on the latest containment ordinance of the red-green Senate.

Additional infection protection across Germany is urgently needed to break the third wave.

"Therefore my urgent appeal to the Chancellor: Take action and create the basis for it."

Lorenzen emphasized that he was “a great advocate of federalism”.

"But in this situation he slows us down in the face of the cacophony of the countries and in view of the noise of the election campaign."
