France's rebellious presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon warned Thursday that he would refuse to be "instrumentalised" by EELV MEP Yannick Jadot who is preparing a meeting of left-wing leaders to discuss a common project in 2022 .

The leader of the Insoumis, who has been saying for several weeks that he is willing to talk about the program with the other left-wing forces, told BFMTV his mistrust of Mr. Jadot's initiative.

He affirmed that such a meeting was desired by the rebels on the coordination of the response for the "defense of freedoms" after the controversies on the "Islamo-leftism" and the single-sex meetings of the UNEF.

"But if it is to talk about a common candidacy, things are going badly", launched Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

"You want us to carry your bag, but when it comes to fighting (for freedoms) there is no one left."

"There is a problem if we are talking about joint candidacy, because Jadot's own party does not agree," said the chairman of the LFI group of deputies.

"Finally we dream, (the head of EELV) Julien Bayou recalled that there will be a primary among the Greens, the Communists will also discuss a candidacy this weekend, the Socialists will have a primary", s' is astonished the Insubordinate.

Yannick Jadot's call to meet, "it's a tap dance number to say + more unitary than me, you die +", added Mr. Mélenchon.

He said: "We will go to all the meetings but we are taking our precautions, we do not agree to be used by internal campaigns".

Yannick Jadot announced Sunday that the meeting would take place "within 15 days", claiming to have received positive responses in particular from Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Olivier Faure, Fabien Roussel and Benoît Hamon, leaders respectively of LFI, PS, PCF and Generations.
