Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - After the end of a two-year model test in garbage disposal with a hybrid vehicle powered by natural gas and electricity, Frankfurt no longer relies on this technology.

Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH (FES) announced on Thursday that they had decided to expand electromobility and use biodiesel.

In the medium term, heavy commercial vehicles are moving in the direction of fuel cells.

The hydrogen required for this is produced by recycling household waste in an appropriate power plant.

The pilot project was funded by the State of Hesse with around 420,000 euros.
