Bielefeld (dpa) - The situation in the relegation battle for Arminia Bielefeld could be more precarious.

The pressure in East Westphalia is comparatively low, the mood under coach Frank Kramer looks confident, and in the table it is possible to jump out of the relegation zone before the Friday game against SC Freiburg (8.30 p.m. / DAZN).

However, after the last few weeks of the Bundesliga season, the newly promoted team is looking for more risk of scoring.

"We just have to play clearer," demands Manuel Prietl, midfield engine of table 17.

If that and a win against Freiburg succeed, the concerns of the cellar competition from Cologne (such as Bielefeld 23 points), Mainz (25) and Berlin (25) would grow significantly.

Bielefeld has been stable for weeks and, if successful on Friday at the end of the 28th match day, would have at least the relegation rank.

At least until Saturday, the East Westphalia would even displace Hertha BSC from 14th place.

And a win would also take away a flaw from coach Kramer, who has never won a home game as a coach in the Bundesliga - on eight occasions with Hoffenheim, Fürth and Bielefeld.

The question, however, is whether his team will really manage to develop more offensive power.

So far, the team around captain and striker Fabian Klos has scored 21 goals - only Schalke with 17 goals celebrated less often.

And in the last four home games, Arminia did not meet at all.

Also away from home in the basement duel with Mainz, almost nothing came together at Arminia.

Andreas Voglsammer's free-kick margin at 1: 1 found its way into the net with a lot of luck.

On Thursday, Kramer announced on Thursday that his team would again try to act “actively” against the Freiburg team, who had been weakened in the offensive.

The players would then have to "capitalize" on this by quickly coming in front of the goal.

The team wants to create as many such situations as possible.

"If we do a top performance, we have a chance to score."

The Arminia basically offers the comparatively simple rest of the program with confidence.

After the game against Freiburg, who are almost out of the race for the European Cup ranks and recently lost three of four league games, duels with Augsburg and bottom line Schalke await.

From Bielefeld's point of view, the always committed appearances of Arminia also give hope.

Since the change of coach, the style of play has been "more intense," says Prietl.

It was also through a lot of leg work to condense the center.

Coach Kramer, who took over from Uwe Neuhaus at the beginning of March, formulates the route as follows: "We have to work hard for every point in the Bundesliga and bring the right attitude to the fore."

If Arminia can keep up this workload, she should keep the games open again and again and hope to stay in the class for a long time.

Spectacles are not expected anyway.

"The relegation battle is not a gala performance," said club president Hans-Jürgen Laufer after the Mainz game of the "New Westphalians".

In addition, there is probably less pressure on the professionals in terms of relegation battle than with the competition.

According to President Laufer, staying in league one would be a "godsend".
