Hanover (dpa / lni) - Corona vaccinations in medical practices give the Lower Saxony vaccination campaign significantly more momentum, according to initial figures.

According to data from the Robert Koch Institute, around 30,000 people were vaccinated in the practices in Lower Saxony at the regular start on Wednesday.

That was almost as many as in the vaccination centers, where around 35,000 people were vaccinated at the same time.

The vaccination progress is currently mainly concentrated on the first vaccinations.

In the vaccination centers, their share is currently around 75 percent.

The doctors only had 65 second vaccinations after Lower Saxony included selected practices in the vaccinations as part of a pilot project at the beginning of March.

A total of 13.3 percent of people in the country have been vaccinated so far.

5.6 percent received full vaccination protection.
