Gera (dpa / th) - The Thuringian Forest Zoo Gera wants to open the gates for guests again on Saturday.

Since it had to remain closed for so long due to the corona, the zoo expects a large number of visitors in the first days after the reopening, the city of Gera announced.

Visitors must provide their contact details when entering and avoid forming groups during the entire visit.

Commented feeding, cleaning and care times in the petting zoo, guided tours, children's birthdays and animal trekking are currently not possible.

Despite the restrictions, the guests should be able to see and observe all animals.

"The visitors are an important change, especially for the animals," said zoo manager Ulrich Fischer.

Visitors can look forward to new residents: a male Owambo goat was born on January 21, followed by three female pied mountain sheep in February.

In addition, many Easter chicks and little Easter bunnies saw the light of day around Easter.

A mini Shetty stallion was born in March.

And the trample mare Tami has found a new companion in the trample gelding Pavel from the Hamm Zoo.
