Julia Edvardsson has been commissioned to be alpaca manager in the municipality:

- They are easy to care for, it is difficult to lure them into the shed where they will be at night, they are not really used to it yet.

Jörgen Rosin is the head of the work placement unit and it was he who got the idea to rent alpacas.

He got it when he heard researchers talk about the interaction between humans and horses and how good it can be to strengthen people who mostly sit at home and have difficulty entering the labor market, but Jörgen wanted to invest in smaller animals than horses:

- Not everyone is fond of 600 kilos of horse and outside Sweden there are many similar investments in alpacas as social animals.

New attraction

Jörgen Rosin says that it is not only the participants in the labor market project who will enjoy the animals, but school children, preschool children and other Söderköping residents who come and visit them.

The initiative is part of a labor market project that receives financial support from the European Social Fund.
