Varel / Oldenburg (dpa / lni) - After the attack on the owner of a restaurant in Varel in the Friesland district, the public prosecutor brought charges against a 41-year-old for attempted murder.

The man was also accused of serious robbery, the prosecution in Oldenburg announced on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the 41-year-old is said to have lurked in front of the woman's shop last December to steal the daily income.

According to the investigation, the alleged perpetrator got into her car and threatened her with a knife.

When the woman tried to get out of the vehicle, the man is said to have pushed her from the seat and accelerated the car.

Since the woman could not detach herself from the seat belt, she is said to have been dragged along over a distance of around 500 meters and seriously injured in the process.

When the accused stopped and released the seat belt, the seriously injured person was reportedly lying on the street.

After the crime, the man is said to have fled with the woman's car and a high three-digit amount of money.

He is in custody.

The Oldenburg Regional Court decides on the initiation of legal proceedings.
